Michael P. Gibson attended Texas Wesleyan College (B.S. cum laude 1966), University of Texas (M.S. 1969) and Southern Methodist University (J.D. 1971). He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County from 1972 to 1973. He joined the Firm in 1973 and is licensed to practice law in Texas; the United States District Courts--Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, District of Montana, District of Colorado and Northern District of New York; the United States Court of Appeals--Fifth and Eleventh Circuits; and the United States Supreme Court. He has written and lectured at numerous criminal law seminars and was the Course Director for the State Bar Advanced Criminal Law Course (1980) and the TCDLA Federal Criminal Law Short Course (1993).

He has been an Adjunct Professor with the SMU School of Law in the areas of Constitutional Criminal Law, Federal Criminal Trial Practice and Trial Advocacy. He was President of the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (1984); and Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee for the Dallas Bar. He is currently an Executive Committee Member for TCDLA.
